Congratulations to the wonderful pupils in P5-P7 of our senior choir and to Miss Stone, conductor and Mrs Wasson, accompanist, on WINNING the BBC School Choir of the Year 2019 at the Ulster Hall Belfast on Sunday 7 April.
Having made it through the heats and semi-finals, competition was extremely high, with 2 excellent choirs from Pond Park PS, Lisburn and Macosquin PS, to compete against. Our first two pieces-'I am a Small Part of the World' and 'Get on Board This Train' sounded beautiful and received very positive comments from the judges. It was with great delight that we heard the news that we made it in to the 'head to head' sing off, against Pond Park PS.
The pupils raised their game even higher (if possible!) and performed 'Naughty' absolutely brilliantly. Their energy, enthusiasm and determination were evident for all to see.
An anxious wait ensued, while the judges deliberated over who would be crowned both Junior and Senior Choir of the Year.
The cheers from the pupils (and travelling staff, governor and parent support) could probably be heard down Great Victoria Street when it was announced that Ebrington PS & NS were winners.
