Play along with Miss Caithness. Monday 30th March
Hello everyone, for today’s play activity you will need some Lego/Duplo blocks, paper, paint and markers.
Before we begin, have a look at the pieces of Lego/Duplo you have got.
What colours can you see?
What size of bricks can you see? Small/medium/big. Can you compare the size of the bricks? Eg: this brick is bigger/smaller than this brick.
Look at the shapes of the bricks. What shapes can you see? Can you count how many sides/corners your shape has? Can you recognise and talk about the length of the sides? Eg: long/short. Are the sides straight or curved?
What are you going to make using the bricks? You could make a person or a robot. You could make some tall and short buildings/towers. You could make some vehicles. You could make a rocket. Choose 2 colours, can you make a repeating pattern? Choose 2 sizes, can you make a repeating pattern? Can you create your own pattern?
Dip your bricks into the paint and get creating! Have a look at Miss Caithness’ creations, can you work out what she has made?! Use the markers and add detail to your pictures and patterns if you wish.
Can you use the bricks and build what you have made? This is great for your finger strength and hand/eye co ordination.
Have fun and don’t for get to send your beautiful creations to Mrs Dalzell and me on see saw.
