Pyjamarama Day!
Pyjamarama Day!
A love of language, reading and books starts early, and it starts at home.
Finding the time to read a story to a child has huge benefits – both for the child and the person doing the reading.
Reading a regular storytime for children is a simple activity that encourages children to enjoy reading and gets them into good reading habits that will set them up for the future. When parents encourage children to read at home, it can make a big difference to their wellbeing and how successful they are at school and beyond. Set aside a few minutes to read a short story to, or with, your child, and then have a quick chat about what they liked about the story, and what they felt when listening to it. That small effort will help boost your child’s sense of well-being, bring you closer together, and add another warm and nurturing experience to family life.
Booktrust is organising a pyjama day for children to do in their homes. The aim is to celebrate the bedtime story and reading together.
On the day there will be live story sessions and lots of activities that you can down load to do at home together, and the best bit, it’s all done in our jammies!
All you have to do is go onto the Booktrust website and click on the pyjamarama link:

We have seen so many of your fabulous houses that you have built, using the ideas that were posted earlier on this week.
For pyjamarama day, why not make your own story house! I’ve uploaded a couple of ideas, but use your imagination and do whatever you like!
I used the kitchen tables, chairs, blankets and cushions to make a cosy story den for reading all my stories, even Mabel enjoyed it!
If you make any dens or houses, we would love to see! Send any photographs through to Mrs Dalzell and I on Seesaw.
Stay safe, happy reading and have fun!
